as for many, some of the happenings in my wee years were dark, weird and scary
the pull toward gravity...was there

then
this man became famous and showed me something that is really, really important in life:

being completely silly

i was 6 and 8 and 10
and he and the muppets were my heros

i bought his record albums at the local k-mart with my weekly allowance
or the money i would make from washing the neighbors' cars
and i would memorize his stand-up
and repeat his words over and over and over again

there's something so freeing and life-giving about playing a complete and total ass

goes to show
that some great healers don't do reiki or craniosacral therapy or realign chakras

sometimes they play banjo, have happy feet, and are wild and crazy guys!

live with heart

Heartsutra

Julian has been hosting some lively discussions on integral theory vs. new age thinking in his blog recently. So many multiple perspectives on the subject have been expressed, and I have found the content to be a good cognitive work-out for critical thinking. As of this morning, Julian is giving everyone a much needed breather with some wonderful poetry. Do go check it out. I highly recommend it...wonderful poems. I posted the following commentary there earlier.
...

we have come here to live. to live with heart.

we do not control everything with our little individual minds. that notion is laughable. and yes, a likely form of solipsistic navel-gazing...absolutely. besides the results of such authoritarian control would produce the most horrifically boring results. bleh!

there is an interplay between the individual and the greater Being that occurs no matter how devolved or evolved we are as souls. if we are tiny red blood cells in the body of this cosmos, then certainly no amount of individual thought control or hopeful wishing is going to turn our brother osteocytes or sister neurons into erythropoetin, so that we RBCs can make ourselves more abundant. no, no. our entire body must go out and receive proper nourishment and exercise to make that happen. therefore, we must work with our entire body co-creatively, and assist in meeting its needs at any given moment and perform our naturally inspired tasks—dharma. quite humbling. we don't get our "little self" way 100% all the time in every waking moment of the day. why? because in the greater scheme of things...it might not be so good for the greater whole.

what is the law of attraction? how about the law of gravity? when something enters into our personal atmosphere...bam!...there it is...drawn into our orbit or dashed against our earth for us to deal with and cooperate with. we have a moon. what?! only one moon?! that's not enough! we want to be more abundant. more moons. more is better! really? how? more tidal waves?

we need to mature and consider the whole, which is so much more than just our individual selves. how does everything energetically work together? how are we creating harmony? we have a greater Self that includes all beings. both self and Self matter. its just that self has been born in benevolent service to Self and has a particular function that is divinely inspired and cannot be denied.

do you know what kind of cell only thinks in terms of more, more, more and doesn't consider how its immature and improperly formed actions affect other cells around it?

a cancer cell.

cancer cells behave in that manner. they only think of "more." and they tap any resource they can get. they suck it dry and think nary a thought about it. they are undifferentiated immature cells that don't know any better than to spread.

we need to mature, differentiate, and consider the whole. for our health. this is imperative.

we need to learn to use both: mind and Mind

this universe is not a self-serving laboratory wherein we can apply trendy mental technology and fluffy scientific method to our existence, and in so doing, gratuitously get what we want. how incredibly egocentric.

this is life. its messy. its beautiful. its horrible. its regenerative. and unpredictable. and comedic. and tragic. and transforming. and spontaneous. and uncanny. and extraordinary. and mundane. and divine.

most of all: its a compassionate collaborative effort.

and all of that is what gives life its transcendent power. true unadulterated pure experience. living.

what is the best way for children to develop a strong immune system to develop true and lasting health? put 'em on a farm in the country and let 'em roll around in the dirt.

pain, suffering, joy, ecstasy...all of these and more—are flint striking to form flame and birth the heavens from pure ether.

we invoke spirit with every breath we take and every moment we live.

avoiding life by trying to control all possible outcomes—internally or externally—is pointless and futile. and ultimately—devoid of spirit.

outrageous incense anticipation

Incense_stick

TEMPORARY POST...THIS ENTRY WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN 24 HRS...
...or 23...or 89...something like that...

:)

and now for something completely banal and bawdy...

okay, i'm doing all kinds of crazy packing for my upcoming move, and after a neighborhoodly trip to the bank-eroo and then to the storage unit, I decided to stop off at the corner market for some juice, water, bread, and a banana.

so i'm at the front counter paying the nice market-y man for my foodly goods, and i turn my head ever so casually to the left...where my eyes (and thus also my gaze) come to rest upon some of the most enormous sticks of incense i have ever seen.

this incense was HUGE. like 2 feet long and 4-5 cm in diameter. wow!

just the sight of it was absolutely compelling...and i couldn't help but check out the different scent labels on the packaging of this jumbo incense...

let's see...there was:

jasmine
rose
opium type
polo type

and...

...pussy

:|

wt&?!

pussy?!

i'm sorry, mah peeps, but that is frigin' hilarious!

and now i am completely intrigued and am yearning to know how they make that incense.
i mean how does one make pussy incense?!

please, if anyone has any leads on this, let me know immediately—don't make me suffer any longer in my outrageous incense anticipation.

;)

Peace

i'm in this moment
where have you been?

there is a sign that reads unlimited possibilities
i can see it from my bed
where i'm resting on my tummy
right now

the dishes are clean
and the moon is up
in this moment there is everything

absolutely everything

The Symposium Is Over, Yet It Has Just Begun!

Posted on May 14th, 2007 by Delia : rara avis Delia
Delia_tootsie
Delia Copold and Tootsie Copold (seen pictured above) gaze at the computer screen contemplating integrative spirituality and philosophy over their family vacation by participating in a Zaadz Symposium. Tootsie appears to be a little upset that her gooey lovey-dovey perspectives keep getting dismantled and dissected by harsh, prickly rationalists. awww...poor little tootsie. ;)

What a wonderful symposium Julian hosted this past week titled:

Integrative Spirituality: Grounded Contemporary Perspectives

7 contributors posted for 7 days with a flood of comments and vibrant discussion throughout.

And here's where you can find those essays and the engaging discussions that followed:

All Symposium Essays

Julian asked several participants, including myself, to contribute a brief final commentary regarding our impressions of this first Zaadz symposium. Being that I am about to engage on the first leg of a roadtrip across Southwest America in 8 hours time, necessity also compels me to make this snappy! ;)

Before stating my impressions, I would just like to take a moment to first say:

Praise be the magical faries and mythical elves residing in the ninth dimension of the 43rd chakra!
Praise be!

;)

(the above statement is a little inside humor re: symposium...now, you'll just have to read all the essays and discussions in order to understand the glory of that witicism...what a tease!)

Initial Impressions:

1. Complete and thorough elucidation of the Absolute, the Infinite, and the Ultimate requires more than 7 days and 7 blog posts (...apparently). Thus, the unequivocal need for more symposiums and great discussions! :)

2. All the Spiral Dynamics of the spiritual/philosophical rainbow make for colorful discussion and debate. Yes indeedy. :)

3.  A great way to discern and develop your very own personal position on a particular philosophical or spiritual matter is to hear another person's position—especially if its a position that you abhor. ;)

Fairly brief and snappy, eh?

:)

I actually have several thoughts that are a lot more mature and substantive to contribute regarding this wonderful symposium—and it was wonderful—genuinely engaging and inspiring. All the contributors and participants contemplated their hearts out...er, loved their minds open...er, something like that. Anyhoo, bedtime and the flat west Texas I-10 call me away to my pillow at present...

...yet, I would like to say this one last thought in closing:

If you really cherish your spiritual and philosophical perspectives, and wish to give them a good healthy work-out or regenerative restorative stretching (...or put them up on the chopping block for total mutilation and decapitation...(clearly, it depends which side of the elephant you look at it from)—run (or skip merrily)—yes, run to the next Zaadz Symposium and PARTICIPATE!

Peace out, yo!

...and send me some hot lovin' voo-doo wishes for happy traveling, you gooey magical-thinkin' masses gettin' high on the opioid endorphins from the unseen other-worldly Atlantean chakras!

ahhhh, yeah...

;)

home on the range

Alpacas

while traveling, my friends in phoenix—wendi and brenda, travel-mate—colleen (bean), and I stopped off for a bit in jerome, arizona. it's an old mining town tucked into the side of a mountain. and wow! what a view! glorious.

shared a great lunch at the red rooster cafe. the peach cobbler is superb. i love cobbler. yum.

:)

wandered about the town in and out of art galleries. one gallery was full of nothing but kaleidescopes. all different kinds. some were huge and really elaborate. we must have spent about an hour just looking into all of the kaleidescopes.

at the end of the day, we watched a lively and eccentric artist demonstrate old world glass blowing as he made a wine glass in about 15 minutes flat. inspiring!

was also in las cruces, new mexico for a couple of days. while on a drive through the countryside, met a cool guy named larry, who is raising a few peruvian alpacas for the first time. two babies and two adults. they have their own yard, and in their barn they have fans and water misters to stay cool. it's a veritable alpaca spa and resort!

when we visted, the alpacas had just been sheared, so they looked a bit naked and camel-like. their fur is soooo soft. larry sells it to local weavers to make yarn from.

also in cruces, my friend bean and i happened upon a live rattle snake, and then later a huge jack rabbit, while hiking down an arroyo about a quarter mile from the rio grande river.

...new mexico...gorgeous...

and...we began our auspicious journey with a fab lunch in austin with fellow zaadster—salima.
hey gurl!
:)

okay...yes, back to jerome...

in jerome, i came across this brief quote i saw on a greeting card in one of the gift shops, and i have been mesmerized by it for days. i'm mostly posting this super-quick blog note to share it with you all now:

"It's a shame to be caught up in something that does not absolutely make you tremble with joy."  ~julia childs

currently, i'm in la. (*tremble, tremble*)

:)

that's right—

—home again, home again, jiggity-jig!

:)

wednesday, i head down to the OC to assist some old friends in designing a few weddings.

...additionaly, i checked out my potential new digs yesterday...sah-weet!

hopefully will move in, in about 3 weeks when it opens up. (send me light, send me light.)
until then—i'm a couch-hoppin' happy camper.

peace, love, all things wonderful,

-d
